Brand identity

Goal

Ilé Ijó is one of the prominent names in the alternative and rave scene in West Africa, seeking a new visual identity ahead of an upcoming event, with the intention that the identity would set the foundation for all future events going forward. I led the full identity design, spanning the logo, motion design, and 3D work. The core challenge was that the brand deliberately avoided a fixed color palette, so that each event could explore its own visual world freely through 3D animation and visuals. This meant the identity had to be strong and recognisable enough to hold together across wildly different color treatments and visual directions, without relying on color as an anchor.

Insights

Designing a brand with no fixed colors forced me to think about identity in a more structural way. The logo and its forms had to carry the full weight of recognition on their own, through shape, texture, and motion rather than a consistent palette. It also changed how I approached the motion and 3D work. Rather than building toward a specific look, I was designing a flexible visual language, something that could feel at home whether the next event goes dark and industrial or bright and chaotic. The result is an identity that gives each event room to breathe while still feeling like it belongs to the same brand.
