Brand identity

Goal

Tribe Block Party set out to introduce a new event identity in Los Angeles, with a visual system that could make its first edition feel distinctive while giving the brand a foundation to grow from. I led the identity from the ground up, developing the core brand and applying it across the first edition’s event materials and promotional touchpoints. The central challenge was to create a brand that felt cohesive across both its identity and its debut event. The system needed to make Tribe Block Party immediately recognizable while translating naturally across different formats, from the main event graphics to merchandise and promotional materials. This meant building a visual language with enough character to stand on its own and enough flexibility to support future editions.

Insights

Designing a brand with no fixed colors forced me to think about identity in a more structural way. The logo and its forms had to carry the full weight of recognition on their own, through shape, texture, and motion rather than a consistent palette. It also changed how I approached the motion and 3D work. Rather than building toward a specific look, I was designing a flexible visual language, something that could feel at home whether the next event goes dark and industrial or bright and chaotic. The result is an identity that gives each event room to breathe while still feeling like it belongs to the same brand.
